Falling asleep to the sounds of the Pacific ocean, hammock life, and bonfires on the beach, this is the only mindfulness-therapy I need.
So after some freezing nights at the Andes, some serious bus riding of over 20 hours and busy capital of Peru, it was time to find something more relaxing. Somewhere to rest and bathe in the sun. Bye bye Lima, hello Máncora you sweet gem of Northern Peru!
Bungalows on the beach, sand in your bed, morning swims and adorable stray dog gang who became our best friends while there. They followed us everywhere including inside the local market. You can maybe imagine the heartbreak when we had to separate in the end. I wish I could have adopted one, but luckily the hostel owner took care of them as well.
If you want to relax in a warmer climate, you enjoy surfing or beach life and you are planning to go to Peru, put Máncora on your list. It’s a cute small town in Northern Peru, close to the Ecuadorian border.
The walls of our bungalow were quite epic!
Máncora is also a party spot for some backpacking-kids so depending on what are you looking for, choose your accommodation carefully. We had a perfect granny-holiday in Máncora with daytime naps, beach walks, and evening rum by a bonfire. Relaxing guaranteed!
